Calhan, Colorado's Hidden Gem

Y'all this whole pandemic has put a damper on all our travel plans the past month now and looks like it will continue into the months to come. So instead of hoarding some of the neatest places we had the privilege of taking Kenzlee to see during our RV adventures over the last 1.5 years.

I will be posting several new blog posts each specific to different states we've been to. So don't forget to scroll down and subscribe - you don't want to miss out on any of the breathtaking sights, mouthwatering food spots, and of course all the best places for kids/pets. #momwinsagain

So I bet you're wondering what kind of hidden gem is there to find in a town with a population of less than 1000 people, right? Trust me. I was shocked when we stumbled across Calhan Paint Mines. About a mile south of Calhan, the little town Mason was working in, is an Interpretive Park - "a unique blending of geological, archaeological, historical and ecological resources." Kenzlee had the best time hiking throughout all the different formations and seeing all the beautiful colors and designs that covered them.

I honestly think if we would have just happened to see the tiny sign that told you to turn or you'll miss them we would have done just that... missed them. Until you drive right up to the rim of the little canyon they sit in you can't even tell that they are there. I'm pretty sure we drove past them 3 days in a row until we saw the sign to stop. The picture below was less than 1 mile from where we parked to walk down into the park and all you can see is fields.

Everytime we explore somewhere new I am in awe of what God has given us. Until our next adventure!

Stay Healthy, Friends!

XO,

B.
